In the face of the most demanding challenge and trouble, God can fill our heart with hope that serves as an anchor and a sure link to the future. Through hope we are pulled through our most tempestuous moment in life without sinking. Hope is a quiet confidence, which says that even when we don't know what the future holds, we can trust the one who holds the future. Hope is more than a wistful wish: it is a solid anchor that holds us steady when the storm is at its height. Sometimes our troubles overwhelm us, leaving us feeling hopeless and despairing. Hope is God's gift to us, along with a different perspective on the meaning of the trials we undergo. Our troubles may not disappear but our outlook on them will be transformed.
