Facing and handling the trauma of misrepresentation can be a daunting task. But for those whose hope is in the Lord, their vindication will be executed. When you know deep in your heart that you are innocent, it is incredibly painful to hear rumours about yourself. To have your integrity brought into question, your reputation slandered. God never forgets our innocence, fear, or pain! Slander is a serious sin. Like its cousin gossip, slander is incredibly destructive. Gossip spreads the fire, but slander sparks it. When you are slandered, it’s often better to stay silent, trust in the Lord, and let truth be your greatest advocate in the long run. When (not if) your reputation suffers an undeserved injury, your quiet integrity over time will say all that needs to be said.
